Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
A fire broke out at a mustard oil mill in Ghusighata Bazar under Kulti Gram Panchayat of Haroa Police Station, Basirhat, on Monday morning. The blaze started suddenly inside the mill and spread rapidly to a nearby grocery shop, triggering panic among locals and traders in the market.
Local residents, vendors, and buyers present at the time acted immediately, using buckets of water to bring the fire under control before it could spread further. No casualties or injuries were reported. Police personnel from Louhati Outpost reached the spot shortly after being alerted and monitored the situation.
According to initial assessment by the police, the fire may have been caused by a short circuit inside the mustard oil refinery unit. An investigation is underway to determine the exact cause. Officials are also reviewing the extent of damage to the mill and the adjoining shop.
